Meta Description Pixel Width Checker
Google truncates meta descriptions by pixel width, not character count. Measure yours against the desktop and mobile SERP cutoffs — right in your browser.
Why pixels matter more than character count
Google truncates SERP descriptions by pixel width, not character count. A description with 160 wide letters (W, M, K) can get cut while one with 165 narrow letters (i, l, t) fits comfortably. Char-only tools mislead you on both ends.
This tool measures your description with the same Arial 14px regular-weight font Google uses on its SERPs, using your browser's canvas API. Desktop ceiling is ~1200px; mobile is ~840px.
Note: Google often rewrites meta descriptions using on-page text matching the query. Even a perfectly sized description can be replaced. Front-load the key benefit so the first ~120 characters stand alone.
